The spiritual journey is the unlearning of fear and the acceptance of love.
— Marianne Williamson

Spirit came from the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency and joined CBR to be saved from the euthanasia list on February 23, 2023. Spirit was a bit timid at first, but she bonded to her foster mom quickly. Where her foster mom went, she went. If she couldn’t see her foster mom, she would get severe FOMO (fear of missing out) and would bark like no other. Her foster worked tirelessly and stuck to strict boundaries to help Spirit work through this separation anxiety.

It was very clear upon arrival that Spirit was an indoor dog. She instantly wanted to jump up on the couches to snuggle and be as close to her chosen human as possible. While Spirit was great with kids, she did jump quite a bit so this had to be improved as well. Other than this, Spirit did great around other dogs, cats, and even her foster’s chickens! She did have a long palette and rather narrow nares which really impacted her breathing, so she had surgery to correct this and be spayed! Now she can breath, enjoy life, and never worry about being used for breeding.

It was no surprise that we were able to find her forever home so quickly. On April 29, 2023, spirit was picked up by her forever family. She got to enjoy a quick vacation to the desert with her forever family before she went to her new home. She’s got two human siblings and is so so loved!!

Happy tails!
