Ford came to CBR on October 16, 2022 from Turlock Animal Shelter where he was with his brother. Unfortunately, both him and his brother were euthanasia listed. On the last day they had to live, someone visited the shelter to try and save them and ended up causing severe stress in his brother. When the brother was returned to the kennel, he attacked Ford for seemingly no reason. Ford soon joined CBR and his brother was saved by another rescue.

Ford’s journey in rescue was a long one through no fault of his own. He started his journey in a very loving foster home and that’s when we started getting to know him for the amazing dog he was. Ford has always been described as an old soul. He is very mellow and just wanted to be with his people. He is dog friendly, loved to nap, sunbathe, and cuddle. His only flaw was severe crate anxiety, he did not like to be left alone let alone in his crate. His foster worked tirelessly night and day, she did everything she was guided to make it a safe, comforting place for him.

Over time he got more comfortable in the crate, and the rest was smooth sailing until one day he played a little too hard with his foster sibling. Ford’s foster started noticing a limp in his step that would come and go, so we got him checked out asap. He started laser therapy to help with his healing, and was put on extremely strict crate rest for a few weeks. The doctors believed he had a partial CCL tear, and we wanted to do everything we could to avoid a TPLO surgery where he would be unable to walk or play for at least 6 months.

He recovered smoothly and eventually we found his forever home. As of May 2, 2023, Ford, now Cash, is a city boy living the dream and getting to visit his first foster mama whenever he wants.

You’re an old soul: not here for fear, greed, lust, or comparison... You are here for solitude, peace, and wisdom.
