Roxy (FKA Tia)

Tia came to CBR from the Orange County Animal Services shelter on September 19, 2022, along with her sister, Lolie. Both puppies were estimated to be 8-weeks old, and both had skull fractures believed to be caused by their parents. All four dogs were found as strays, and looking to be saved from euthanasia. Her foster, one of our most experienced puppy fosters, reached out and asked if we could help! We rook her in, and scheduled her asap to see an orthopedic specialist to test for any damages to her skull that would affect her long term, she was in worse shape than Lolie. All of her vet checks came back clear and with time she healed.

While in foster care, Tia showed how much of an in-charge Pitbull queen she is, while her littermate was more calm and subdued. She had some resource guarding tendencies, but was otherwise great in her foster home with all of the other dogs. We eventually enrolled her in a Board & Train after a concerning training session led us to believe this was the best way to work through her puppy insecurities and resource guarding tendencies. During this time she absolutely thrived. She came out of it leash trained, crate trained, and muzzle trained in just 3-4 weeks!

Once upon a time, puppies just a few weeks old, never stayed in rescue longer than 8-10 weeks of age. We were absolutely shocked to see Tia reach 6 months old until she found her family. We don’t know if this was because of COVID, the shelter crisis, the skull fractures, who knows… but we did it!

Her forever home found her during her Board & Train, and after doing meet & greets, they decided to take her home and make her theirs. She is the best-est girl with a beautiful, long life ahead of her.

Happy Tails!

Lucky are those who have a dog to come home to them everyday!
