Growing apart doesn’t change the fact that for a long time we grew side by side. Our roots will always be tangled, I am glad for that.

Petunia came to California Bully Rescue on March 2, 2023 with her sister, Stevie. Petunia, Stevie, and their mom were all found at Lodi Animal Services shelter were they were at risk for euthanasia. Thankfully, another rescue stepped up to help their mom, who was considered a senior, leaving only Stevie and Petunia needing help.

We are forever grateful for the fosters who stepped up and helped us save for their lives. Petunia’s life after her time in the shelter has led to a life filled with cuddles, love, and happiness. Her favorite pass time while in foster care was to cuddle up right on top of her foster siblings whenever she could.

While we saved Petunia and her sister, we noticed early on that while they were nice, they did experience the typical competition that we see amongst dogs when there are same gender siblings around. This can easily escalate to resource guarding, aggression, and other behavioral concerns that isn’t good for the dogs. Thankfully, we were able to find fosters for both her and her sister, and we instantly same a demeanor shift in both of them showing a calmer, loving side to each and not one with anxiety and stress.

While we always want dogs to stay together, it was clear from the beginning that Petunia didn’t need to be homed with her sister, Stevie. Petunia found her forever family on July 19, 2023 and we can’t wait to see the lifetime of cuddles she has ahead of her and Stevie found her own family soon after that.

Happy Tails!
