Pack Walk - 2023 Q3

  • 395 Oyster Point Boulevard South San Francisco, CA, 94080 United States (map)

Join us for our 2023 Quarter 3 park walk in Northern California. Be sure to bring lots of treats!!

Pack walks are amazing opportunities to participate in proper dog socialization from experienced handlers and professional trainers. Walking neutrally with a group of dogs without the pressure of direct interactions helps your pup become more calm and balanced around other dogs - it’s an especially great training tool for reactive dogs.

We aim to always have a trainer present for all of these pack walks, though we may not always be able to. For this first one, we will have City Sniffers joining us!

Trainers are present to assist and guide handlers with best practices for the pack walk, this is not a training session for reactivity. If you need training for your dog please inquire with the trainers about their training options after the walk.

It will be $20 to attend per dog with all proceeds going to CBR to help us provide training for more dogs in our rescue. Please submit your donation via PayPal, Venmo, and/or Debit/Credit Card. To register for the pack walk, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page and ensure your first and last name when you donate matches what you register with so we can link the two.

Schedule

  1. Check in - Please leave your dogs in the car at first. We will have a table set up with a sign in sheet, some merch you can purchase, and will huddle together to go over key things for the pack walk.

  2. Begin walking around 15 minutes after the event start time in a single file line, at this point we will not allow others to rush up to the group. Late arrivers can join after checking in, but will need to maintain whatever distance the dog ahead of them is most comfortable with. Walk for 30-45 minutes.

  3. The trail is a giant loop, you are welcome to stop or veer off wherever you wish.

  4. At the end we tend to keep distance but have the dogs sit and the humans mingle from a distance.

Rules

  1. Respect each other’s space and maintain at least 5 feet of distance from each other. Some dogs are here for training and to work through reactivity.

  2. No approaching other dogs, even if on leash. Maintain distance.

  3. Bring poop bags and pick up after your dog.

  4. Leashes must be 6 feet long or shorter, nothing longer will be allowed and you will be turned away.

  5. Muzzle your dog if they are reactive and maintain distance that your dog is comfortable with even if it seems far to you. If this is your first time and you’re unsure how to participate with a reactive dog, please keep your dog in the car and come out to speak with our trainer. They will be able to advise on best practices for your participation.

You will be asked to leave if:

  1. You do not maintain a minimum of 5 feet of space.

  2. You allow your dog to rush up to other dogs.

  3. You cannot handle your reactive dog safely.

  4. You have a leash longer than 6ft.

  5. A CBR representative determines your participation is a risk to the dogs and/or people in attendance.
